About Blue Haven:

Blue Haven is a not-for-profit organisation fully owned and operated by Kiama Municipal Council and offers a true continuum of aged care services and disability services for people in the local region; including in-home support, community groups and programs, independent living and residential aged care.

The Role:

The successful candidate will be required to provide personal care and social support to residents in accordance with accreditation standards and assist the facility to meet documentation requirements as outlined by the Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI), whilst portraying the image of Blue Haven as being caring, courteous and efficient.

To be successful in these roles you will need:

Certificate III

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (previously known as Cert III Aged Care).
  • First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain one within first three months).
  • Experience as a Care Service Employee (or similar) in aged care.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, residents and work in a team.
  • Ability to read and record information and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of manual handling requirements.

Certificate IV

  • Certificate IV in Ageing Support (previously known as Cert IV in Aged Care).
  • First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain one within first three months).
  • Experience as a Care Service Employee (or similar) in aged care.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, residents and work in a team.
  • Ability to read and record information and to maintain confidentiality, privacy and dignity.
  • Knowledge of manual handling requirements.
  • Ability to deliver a person-centred approach to care.
  • Ability to provide leadership in a team environment.
  • Effective organisational and time management skills to work with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to implement and utilise assessment tools and assess health care needs of residents.
  • Working knowledge of infection control principles and guidelines

About you:

We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced Care Service Employees (Nursing) to join the team at Blue Haven. In these roles you will provide personal care and social support to the residents in accordance with accreditation standards. To be successful you will have a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or a Certificate IV in Ageing Support (with HLTHPS007 - Administer and monitor medications). 

We offer:

  • Casual and part-time opportunities, up to 38 hours per week
  • Hourly rate from $24.18 for Certificate III plus casual loading and shift penalties where applicable (rate of pay will depend on qualification and experience)
  • Hourly rate from $26.97 for Certificate IV plus casual loading and shift penalties where applicable (rate of pay will depend on qualification and experience)
  • plus 9.5% superannuation
  • Access to the Fitness Passport
